The Sports and Wellbeing Fund was established in 2019 through the generous support of an alumni member.

Its purpose is:

  • To support the activities of Somerville students across a wide variety of sports
  • To promote physical activity
  • To develop and support the wellbeing of the College community.

APPLICATION FORM

Eligibility

Enrolled students can apply for this funding to support membership and participation in University wide sports and teams. Students who are on suspension, report or probation, visiting students and associate students are not eligible. It is not possible to use the fund to support membership and participation in sports and teams outside the University.

Award levels

Up to £150. Priority will be given to applicants who have not received previous awards.

Application process

Applications are accepted three times a year. Applications for Hilary Term will close on Monday 24th January.

Students should complete the application form and email it to the Scholarships and Funding Officer with any evidence of estimated or actual costs. The deadline is Monday 24th January. Undergraduates should note that their Personal Tutor might be asked to comment on their application.

Application deadlines

There are three application deadlines in 2021/22:

  • Michaelmas Term: Monday 18th October 2021 (2nd week)
  • Hilary Term: Monday 24th January 2022 (2nd week)
  • Trinity Term: Monday 11th April 2022 (minus 1st week)

Decisions

Decisions will be made by the Somerville College Travel and Special Project Grants Committee.

Reporting

Successful applicants will be expected to submit a brief report outlining how they have used the award.
