We have the option each year to make awards from a number of smaller funds established through the generosity of our alumni and supporters.

There is no separate application process for these funds – awards can be made from the funds if the criteria are met by any Travel or Special Project Grant application made by a Somervillian.

The criteria range from your course or area of study to travelling to a certain part of the world. Please find more details below:

Dr Stephanie Dalley Fund

To enable Somerville students to intern in a non-profit organisation, be it cultural or charitable. The award is made possible through the generosity of a Somervillian in honour of their College Tutor and esteemed Assyriologist, Dr Dalley.

Maria and Tina Bentivoglio Fund

To support travel for undergraduates or graduates in the Arts or Sciences.

Carmen Blacker Fund

To support undergraduates with travel connected to the study of religion.

Rita Bradshaw Fund

To support travel for undergraduates or graduates.

Janet Treloar Anna Akhmatova Fund

To allow Somerville undergraduates to visit the Anna Akhmatova Museum in St Petersburg.

Anne Clements Fund

To support undergraduates or graduates with travel in connection with their studies or international affairs.

Joan and Don Dixson Fund

Instituted by Susan Dixson, to enable students to travel in and experience former Eastern Bloc countries, particularly Bulgaria.

Travel Fund to Russia or the Former Soviet Union

To support undergraduates or graduates with travel costs to either Russia or the former Soviet Union.

Geiringer Fund

To support travel for undergraduates or graduates.

Olive Sayce Fund

To support travel for undergraduates or graduates studying Modern Languages.

Daphne Robinson Fund

To be used by an undergraduate who is not studying a language as part of their degree course but needs to learn a language to help with their studies.
