We have lift off on our very exciting project! 🚀

Swipe to read why Steve Rayner (Senior Tutor) feels we’re facing a ‘major access issue’.

Whether big or small, your gift makes a huge difference to our students because when we all join together, change happens.

Did you know 30 people giving £5 a month could fund the UNIQ access summer school year after year?

If you feel you can support our timely and vital Access work, you’ll find the link to our Crowdfunder in our bio 🙏

It's #NationalPoetryDay, which means that dangerous unidentified poetry could be lurking around every corner. 👀 Read this public safety poem from our alumna Elma Mitchell carefully, and don't forget to send us any Somervillian poems that ambush you today for expert defusal by commenting them below 👇

'This Poem', by Elma Mitchell (1938, English)

This poem is dangerous: It should not be left
Within the reach of children, or even adults
Who might swallow it whole, with possibly
Undesirable side-effects. If you come across
An unattended, unidentified poem
In a public place, do not attempt to tackle it
Yourself. Send it (preferably, in a sealed container)
To the nearest centre of learning, where it will be rendered
Harmless, by experts. Even the simplest poem
May destroy your immunity to human emotions.
All poems must carry a Government warning. Words
Can seriously affect your heart.
Massive congratulations to our recent grad Shah Moore (2018, Psychology), who has just won the British Neuropsychological Society's Undergraduate Project Prize 2021! 🎉

'It's beginning to look a lot like students'
Sexual harassment and violence of any form is never acceptable. Our campaign with Oxford SU focuses on the range of support available for our students, including our Support Service.

The Oxford SU has also created a brilliant Consent Matters course. If you haven’t had time to take it yet, make sure to do so before term gets too busy. It doesn’t take long to complete and covers important topics to help you understand consent, communication and looking out for others - link in bio.

2nd year helpers represent! These guys are even wearing their shiny new Somerville tees. Ask them where to go and they'll help you out. #theyknoweverything #somervillefreshers
We can't wait to welcome all our new students over the next few days! Remember, just ask anyone if you're not sure what to do. Several members of academic office and housekeeping can be seen here proving that we definitely don't bite! #SomervilleFreshers
