About the Sports and Wellbeing Fund
The Sports and Wellbeing Fund was established in 2019 through the generous support of Judith ButtigiegĀ (Physics, 1989). Its purpose is:
- To support the activities of Somerville students across a wide variety of sports
- To promote physical activity
- To develop and support the wellbeing of the College community.
Eligibility
Enrolled students can apply for this funding. Students who are on suspension, report or probation, visiting students and associate students are not eligible. Funding can only be used towards membership fees for sports clubs and teams that are part of Oxford University Sport or Somerville. This does not include gym or pool membership. Unfortunately, other costs such as kit, training or travel can no longer be funded.
Up to one year of membership fees. There is limited funding available so awards might be lower than this depending on the number of applications. Priority will be given to students who have not previously received funding. It is only possible for students to receive this funding once during their time at Somerville.
Application process
Applications have now closed for 2024-25.
Decisions
All applications will be acknowledged once the deadline has passed. Decisions will be made by Somerville College Travel and Special Project Grants Committee.
