Our fundraising plans are among the most ambitious of any Oxford college and are centred around the Oxford India Centre, the Dorothy Hodgkin appeal and the Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Trust.

The Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development already ensures that scholars arrive to Somerville from India each year. The campaign was launched with a £3 million gift from the Indian government, which was matched by the University. It aims to provide a new centre at Somerville College for research into sustainable development, with a particular focus on India.

We are marking the legacy of Dorothy Hodgkin, the only British woman to win a Nobel Prize for science, by fundraising to support and early career female scientist. You can find more details on this in Dorothy Hodgkin campaign.

We are in the initial stages of fundraising for the Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Trust, which aims to offer bursary support to new Somerville students who need it. To find out more, visit the MTST homepage.

We also support our students by empowering them to fundraise for their activities and interests through the use of social media and crowdfunding. Somerville was the first Oxbridge College to launch a crowdfunding site.
