The Penrose Society was established to thank those who have kindly included Somerville in their wills. Events are held annually on the fourth Saturday in May and all legators are invited to attend with a guest.

The programme is as follows:

11:30            Drinks on arrival in the Brittain Williams Room

12:00            A talk by Professor Kate McLoughlin drawing on content from her latest book, 

                    ‘Silence:  A Literary History’, in Flora Anderson Hall

13:00            Lunch in Hall

14:30            Concert in the Chapel, featuring the Somerville and St John’s College Orchestra

15:15-16:00  Tea and coffee in the Mary Somerville Room
