The tulip season is one of my favourite times of year in any garden, and this year’s display has been a feast for the eyes.

Along with their beautiful shapes and colours and stunning variety, one of my favourite things about tulips are their names, which are almost as colourful as the flowers themselves.

This year we have Tulipa ‘Spring Green’ in the garden of Bedford House, the reds and pinks of Tulipa ‘Amazing Grace’ and Tulipa ‘Lasting Love’ in Darbishire quad, and – my favourite – Tulipa ‘Honky Tonky’ gracing the meadow.

Most of our tulips are perennials that will re-flower, providing a sustainable display for the college every spring.

As we begin to look ahead to the summer, please enjoy these highlights from this year’s tulip season.
