This partial scholarship has been established by Somerville College and the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development through the generous support of Mr Sarosh Zaiwalla.
Eligibility
Candidates must be ordinarily resident in India. The following full-time courses are eligible:
- Bachelor of Civil Law
- Magister Juris
- MPhil in Law
- MPhil in Socio-Legal Research
- MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice
- MSc in Law and Finance
Other criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and relevance of studies to the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development’s interdisciplinary aims. Financial need may also be taken into account.

This is a partial scholarship and the exact award level is to be confirmed.
Number of awards
One scholarship is available for 2025 entry.
Selection process
This scholarship is only tenable at Somerville. All eligible candidates who have applied for graduate study by the relevant funding deadline will be considered, regardless of which college preference is included in the graduate application. Successful candidates will be transferred to Somerville in order to take up the scholarship.
All candidates who meet the residency criteria and have applied for one of the eligible courses will be emailed at the end of February 2025. They will be invited to complete a short online form to confirm they would like to be considered for the scholarship and explain how their studies are relevant to the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development.
