Somerville City Group: Tour of the Tower Lifeboat Station

18th June 2019

Based just under Waterloo Bridge on the north side of the Thames, Tower Lifeboat is the dedicated search and rescue resource for central London, covering 16 miles of the Thames between Barking Creek and Battersea. Tower is the RNLI’s busiest lifeboat station serving our densely populated capital city with a well used river.

The tour is an introduction to the RNLI and Tower Lifeboat Station, a tour of the station facilities with a talk about the lifeboat from one of the crew, and a chance to see video footage of rescues.

The charge for this event is waived in favour of a donation to RNLI on the night, suggested minimum £20 per guest.  After the tours we will be heading to Somerset House for drinks on a ‘pay as you go’ basis.

There will be two tours, one starting at 7pm and a second tour starting at 8pm. Numbers are strictly limited and bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. Due to the small number of guests per tour, we regret that guests cannot be accommodated on this occasion.

Online booking for this event has now closed. If you would like to enquire about availability please email Brigitte at alumnievents@some.ox.ac.uk.
