Somerville London Group: Tim Marshall – New Date 4th February
SOMERVILLE LONDON GROUP
Monday 4 February 2019 at the Oxford & Cambridge Club
Tim Marshall – Divided: Why We’re Living in an Age of Walls
The Somerville London Group is delighted to host Tim Marshall, author, journalist and broadcaster to talk about his latest book Divided.
Tim Marshall was diplomatic editor and foreign correspondent for Sky News. After thirty years’ experience in news reporting and presenting, he left full time news journalism to concentrate on writing and analysis.
Divided continues his popular series of books on global politics, following Prisoners of Geography (No 1 Sunday Times best seller) and Worth Dying For. In this new book, he explains one consequence of the rise in nationalism and identity politics is that walls are going up everywhere. Over 6,000 miles of fences and barriers have been erected in the past ten years, and they are redefining our political landscape. Covering China, the US, Israel/Palestine, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, Africa, Europe and the UK, Tim presents a gripping and unflinching analysis of the fault lines that will shape our world for years to come.
The evening begins at 6.30pm with a drinks reception. The talk itself will begin at 7.00pm, followed by questions, and there will be drinks served again after the talk. Books will be on sale at the event.
Tickets are £25 (£10 for alumni who matriculated in 2012 and later) and all Somervillians and guests are welcome. Please note that the Oxford and Cambridge Club has a dress code.
Unfortunately, this event is now sold out.
