Law Event: What is Decolonisation?

5th November 2019

Achas Burin, Lord and Lady McNair Early Career Stipendiary Lecturer, LLB, BCL Law
What is Decolonisation?

The Rhodes Must Fall movement brought to public attention a debate about decolonising Oxford. Achas will discuss what ‘decolonising’ actually means. Newspaper coverage rubbished talk of removing statues of Cecil Rhodes, glossing over contemporary discourse on how we should actually address historic injustices.

You are invited to join the Principal and members of the Somerville law faculty to a drinks reception and talk by our guest speaker, Achas Burin, at The Oxford & Cambridge Club, 71 Pall Mall, on Tuesday 5th November at 6.30pm
