You are warmly invited to a Reunion on Sunday 23rd September, hosted by the Principal and the History Fellows, which is open to anyone who read History or History Joint Schools. We shall be looking back over the school’s many successes, in particular the central role played in these by Joanna Innes, who after 36 years is retiring as History Tutor (although not as an historian, of course).
As well as wishing Jo all the best for her life-after-Somerville, we shall take the opportunity to explain the future direction of the History school and to introduce Jo’s successor. Above all it will be a lively opportunity to network and mingle with many other Somerville historians, tutors and alumni.
There will also be an opportunity to support future Somerville History students with a voluntary donation. The Next Generation History Fund will enable our Fellows to encourage and support talented students pursuing postgraduate study in History.
We are planning to present Jo with a book of tributes and hope that as many of her former pupils will contribute as possible. You will have a chance to write something on the day, but it would be a great help to us if you could possibly send your contributions in advance, by 19th August please – either cards, letters, or emails which we can print out; all, tributes, memories, photographs and good wishes will be most welcome. Submissions to: email@example.com or The Development Office, Somerville College, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6HD.
Tickets are £23 and there is no extra charge for family and friends coming to tea, but please let us know numbers.
We regret that we have very little parking space in College and can only offer it to the disabled. There is a regular Park-and-Ride service from the Pear Tree roundabout, stopping very close to Somerville.
On the day we plan to hand out lists of attenders, showing current employment and email details. If you wish your details to be omitted from this list please let us know.
A photographer will be present at this event to record the day. Ticket holders will be deemed to have given their consent to being photographed unless they have notified Somerville prior to the event. Photographs will be available after the event on a secure website, may be used for future publicity and will be stored in our photo bank.
