Baroness (Shriti) Vadera of Holland Park (1981, PPE) has been appointed Chair of Santander UK.

Baroness Vadera is a former UBS Warburg investment banker and Labour Party Minister. She advised the South Korean government on its chairing of the G20 and the government of Dubai on its restructuring of Dubai World’s debt.

Baroness Vadera was born in 1962 in Uganda to a family of Indian origin, but her family fled to India in 1972.

Press reports also claim that Baroness Vadera is the first woman to be appointed Chair of a major UK bank.
