It is with great sadness that we note the death of The Rt Hon. the Lord Carrington, patron of the Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Trust. Lord Carrington was a remarkable man, a distinguished public servant and a great statesman. He served as Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs under Margaret Thatcher from 1979 - 1982. He was the last surviving member of Churchill’s cabinet and the longest serving member of the House of Lords.
