This year, four of the ten members are Somerville undergraduates, including the President and Musical Director, me! I’m Emily Albery, a second year student at Somerville reading Experimental Psychology.

This year, we Belles have been working harder than ever to maintain our reputation as the sassiest a cappella group in Oxford. Performing regularly in and around Oxford we get the chance to show of our voices to a wide audience of students through our arrangements of girl power anthems; everything from modern pop hits to R&B classics.

As a group, we are sounding better than ever, and so are looking to take our individual sound to a wider audience. That’s why we will be recording an EP in May with professional A Cappella production company Liquid 5th. We will also be heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August this year for an unforgettable experience, performing in the prestigious C Venues alongside some of the best A Cappella groups in the country. We can’t wait to take our powerful vocals up North to share our passion with a wider audience.

This term, we are utilising Somerville’s crowdfunding platform to help support our efforts. Without Somerville we would not be able to do what we love doing so much, singing and performing for the world to see, and we are so grateful for the College’s help in supporting us with our fundraising efforts. If you would like to find out more about the Belles, please check us out on social media (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram), and you can also take a look at our crowdfunding page to find out more about the project.
