The address delivered by Dr Frank Prochaska at the annual meeting of the Charity Commission on 17 October 2014, has been published in full in the current edition of the magazine Standpoint.

The 5,000-word address, The State of Charity, considered the switch from private philanthropy in the Victorian era to the rise of the welfare state in postwar Britain – and its impact on the charitable sector.

The address was first published in full on the website of the UK government, and was reported on the Somerville College website.
