2020 JCR, Oxford SU and College Parents

Please read the following information about the Junior Common Room (JCR), Oxford SU and College Parents.

Junior Common Room (JCR)

The Junior Common Room (JCR) is the undergraduate student body of the College. All undergraduate students of Somerville are members of the JCR, which is managed by a committee. In addition to organising social events and offering advice and support, members of the committee represent the JCR on the College’s Governing Body. There is more information at http://blogs.some.ox.ac.uk/jcr.

Oxford SU

Oxford SU can be a source of help and advice for students. There is more information at www.oxfordsu.org.

College Parents

The College Parents system is organised by the JCR, and is common to many Colleges in Oxford. Your College Parent(s) will probably be in the second year of an undergraduate degree at Somerville. They will be on hand to welcome you when you arrive at College, and are there to help you settle into life at Somerville and Oxford. They are your College Parent(s) for the whole of your first year, so you won’t be on your own.
