The College extends its warmest congratulations to seven Fellows who have been awarded the University of Oxford’s Recognition of Distinction for exceptional research conducted over the past year.
The four Tutorial Fellows who are members of Governing Body are Manuele Gragnolati, Professor of Italian Literature; Joanna Innes, Professor Modern History; Jonathan Marchini, Professor of Statistics; and Mason Porter, Professor of Nonlinear and Complex Systems.
Three of Somerville’s Senior Research Fellows were also recognised: Boris Motik, Professor of Computer Science; Colin Espie, Professor of Sleep Medicines, and Owen Rees, Professor of Music. (Professor Rees’s primary appointment is as Tutorial Fellow of Queen’s College.)
“I am delighted but not surprised that these Fellows and Senior Research Fellows have been recognised in this way,” said Alice Prochaska, Principal. “They represent a range of fields but they share a commitment to excellence and to conducting pioneering research. They also give a taste of the quality of work going on among our Fellows, SRFs and JRFs.”
