This Friday the 8th March is an important day at Somerville for two reasons. First, it’s International Women’s Day, a date we’re proud to celebrate as a former women’s college. Second, we are today celebrating 60 years since Dorothy Hodgkin received her Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

To mark this special occasion, our annual Dorothy Hodgkin Memorial Lecture will this year be presented by Professor Irene Tracey, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford. Before then, we thought we’d reflect on Dorothy Hodgkin’s towering achievement by speaking to some of our academics, students and Dorothy’s former colleagues.

You can watch the full film we made to mark this occasion below.
