A story of English and Dutch tulips
We are delighted to invite you to the next Alumni Gardening Network event at Somerville College, when we will welcome Teresa Clements (Moylan, Zoology 1974) for a fascinating talk exploring one of our best-loved spring flowers. This will be in the Margaret Thatcher Centre and will start at 2pm.
Drawing on decades of experience, Teresa—former Chair of the RHS Bulb Committee and Vice-President of the Wakefield and North of England Tulip Society—will trace the story of English and Dutch tulips, weaving together their horticultural heritage, cultural significance and enduring appeal, alongside expert advice on choosing varieties and growing them successfully in the garden.
The talk will be in-person only. It will be followed by afternoon tea and the opportunity to buy a selection of tulip bulbs, with any profits from the sale going towards college funds.
We hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be an engaging and colourful afternoon.
