The NHS: Where are we now?

What will the future health needs of the UK population be?  What should we do about it and how should we pay for it?

Our panellists below will each give a short talk before opening the discussion to the floor.

Dame Fiona Caldicott:  As she approaches retirement our former Principal will reflect on the NHS she joined at the start of her career compared to the NHS now. You can read Dame Fiona’s short bio here.


Professor Farah Bhatti:  Farah (1984, Medicine), a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, will talk about the challenges facing practitioners in today’s NHS. You can read Farah’s short bio here.


Anita Charlesworth:  Anita is the Director of Research and Economics at the Health Foundation and will talk about the funding landscape – how should we pay for the future health care needs of the UK population? You can read Anita’s short bio here.


6.30pm Drinks reception in the Drawing Room.

7.00pm Introduction from the Principal and Panel Discussion in the Princess Marie Louise Room.

8.00pm Discussion concludes – drinks and networking in the Drawing Room

8.30pm Meeting ends
