The winners of this year’s Next Generation History Fund have been announced.

Devanshika Bajpai and Selina Schoelles, who will start courses in October 2022 studying MSt Global and Imperial History and MSt History (Medieval History) respectively, have each been awarded £8,500 towards the cost of their tuition. They have both just completed their undergraduate studies at Somerville.

The Next Generation History Fund was launched to mark the retirement of our longtime Tutor and Fellow in History and now Senior Research Fellow and Emeritus Professor, Jo Innes. Jo had been concerned for a long time about the growing number of keen and talented historians who were unable to continue their studies because of a lack of financial support. The fund was established to help current history undergraduates overcome this barrier.

Congratulations to them both, and we look forward to welcoming them back in October!
