2019 arrival information for Graduate Entry Medicine students
Please read the following additional information about arriving at Somerville.
You will need to arrive by Thursday 19th September to start your course on Friday 20th September.
If you will be living in College accommodation, your room will be available from Tuesday 17th September. If you wish to arrive earlier than this date, please email the Housekeeping Department (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible to check whether a room will be available for you. Requests must be made well in advance of your planned arrival at Somerville. Please copy the Academic Office (email@example.com) into any emails so we know that you have asked to arrive early.
Travelling to Somerville
A map showing the location of Somerville is available on the College website.
When you arrive at the College, please report to the Porters’ Lodge, which is just inside the main entrance to the College on Woodstock Road. There you will be given your room key, and told how to find your room if you will be living in College. Please check your pigeonhole and collect any post. You will also be given a temporary access card until you can collect your University card during registration.
Parking and unloading
Please note that parking is limited within the College. If you have mobility difficulties and require parking, please request this at the earliest opportunity by emailing the Lodge Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org). There are double yellow lines at the front of the College and parking there will be entirely at the driver’s own risk. There is Pay and Display parking on roads near the College, but this is limited. We therefore recommend parking at Pear Tree Park & Ride, which is north of Oxford. The Pear Tree Park & Ride bus stops are very close to the College’s main entrance on Woodstock Road. There is more information on the Park & Ride website. If you have any queries about parking or unloading, please email the Lodge Manager (email@example.com).
You will need to come to the Academic Office in House 5 to complete the registration process and collect your University card. Please bring your passport with you. We will be open for new student registration on the following dates, 10:00-11:00 and 14:00-15:00:
- Monday 16th September
- Tuesday 17th September
- Wednesday 18th September
- Thursday 19th September
- Friday 20th September
If you are unable to come to the office during those hours, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an alternative time. If you have a visa, please bring your passport and Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) so we can take scanned copies.
*Please note that we cannot register you until you have collected your BRP*
