Please read the following information about arriving at Somerville.

Arrival date

You will need to arrive to start your course on Monday 2nd September.

College accommodation

If you have requested a room in College accommodation, you will be emailed in August with details of your room allocation. You will be able to move into your room on Sunday 1st September. Please email graduate.accommodation@some.ox.ac.uk with any queries.

Travelling to Somerville

A map showing the location of Somerville is available on the College website.

On arrival

When you arrive at the College, please report to the Porters’ Lodge, which is just inside the main entrance to the College on Woodstock Road. There you will be given your room key, and told how to find your room if you will be living in College. Please check your pigeonhole and collect any post. You will also be given a temporary access card until you can collect your University card from the Academic Office.

Parking and unloading

Please note that parking is limited within the College. If you have mobility difficulties and require parking, please request this at the earliest opportunity by emailing the Lodge Manager (lodge.manager@some.ox.ac.uk). There are double yellow lines at the front of the College and parking there will be entirely at the driver’s own risk. There is Pay and Display parking on roads near the College, but this is limited. We therefore recommend parking at Pear Tree Park & Ride, which is north of Oxford. The Pear Tree Park & Ride bus stops are very close to the College’s main entrance on Woodstock Road. There is more information on the Park & Ride website. If you have any queries about parking or unloading, please email the Lodge Manager (lodge.manager@some.ox.ac.uk).

After arrival

You will need to come to the Academic Office in House 5 to complete the registration process and collect your University card. Please bring your passport with you. We will be open for new BMBCH student registration on the following dates, 10:00-11:00 and 14:00-15:00

  • Monday 2nd September
  • Tuesday 3rd September
  • Wednesday 4th September
  • Friday 6th September

If you are unable to come to the office during those hours, please email academic.office@some.ox.ac.uk to arrange an alternative time. If you have a visa, please bring your passport and Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) so we can take scanned copies.

*Please note that we cannot register you until you have collected your BRP*
