Vinita manages OICSD’s partnerships, strategic communications, research outreach design and relationship building, and is responsible for the Centre’s operations. She works with the Research Director on developing the Centre’s research strategy, global presence and impact.
Vinita’s research interests lie at the intersection of climate change, social movements and cities. She is interested in how vulnerable urban populations negotiate the everyday effects of environmental change amid social and political conflict. Previously, Vinita worked as a journalist in India for online newspaper Scroll.in, with a focus on environmental and urban policy. In 2020, she received the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for Environment, Science and Technology reporting for co-authoring an investigative series on pesticide regulation in India.
Vinita holds an MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance (with Distinction) from the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford.
