Retaining Fee Lecturer
I’m a Chartered Linguist and a professional translator. I teach French language at Somerville College at St Anne’s College.
Originally from Lille, I arrived in the UK in 2003 as part of my undergraduate degree in English Studies. I taught as a Lectrice at the University of Leeds then moved to Scotland to do a Master’s degree in Translation Studies at the University of Edinburgh and to teach at Fettes College. I came to Oxford in 2014 after 10 years of teaching school pupils, undergraduates and adult learners in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
I started working as a professional translator in 2007, under the business name Amend in Style Translations. My main fields of expertise are certified/official, commercial and academic/literary translation.
I have a personal interest in translation theory, 19th century French literature – e.g. Victor Hugo, Gustave Flaubert & Guy de Maupassant – and contemporary Francophone literature – e.g. Amélie Nothomb, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Delphine de Vigan & Goncourt novelists.
