Dr Kreager is Tutor and Lecturer in Population at the Oxford Institute of Human Sciences.

He has two main research interests. By training a demographer and social anthropologist, his contemporary research is on family networks, inequality, and population ageing in Indonesia, where he directed the Wellcome Trust project Ageing in Indonesia, 1999-2007. He is also a historian of European population theory and analysis, from the 17th Century to the present. In the wider University he is Director of the Fertility and Reproductive Studies Group in the School of Anthropology; Senior Research Fellow, Oxford Institute of Population Ageing; and Convenor, Project SouthEast Asia.
