My primary research interest is developing mathematical methods for the tractable representation of complex data systems. In particular, I am interested in directed networks, network inference, dynamics on/of networks, temporal networks, and going from meta-data to full-data descriptions. I also work on constructing mathematical models of biological systems, parameter inference and optimisation algorithms.

I develop techniques for analysing data and models using dynamical systems, matrix analysis, probability, topological data analysis, numerical analysis, statistics, and information retrieval to work on problems from biology, social science, economics, and engineering.
