Exploring the Heritage of St Michael and All Angels Church, Great Tew

18th June 2016

Professor Caroline Barron (Somerville Honorary Fellow, former President of the Somerville Association and Professor Emeritus of Medieval History at the University of London) has put together an afternoon programme of four expert talks about the art and architecture of St Michael’s Church, Great Tew, North Oxfordshire, to be held on Saturday 18 June in the church.

Somerville will also be represented by Dr Benjamin Thompson, Somerville’s Tutor in Medieval History, who will lead a short recital of medieval music.  A brief history of church music in the period will be traced, with the occasional forays into secular repertoire so as to include favourites such as ‘Sumer is ycomen in’ and the ‘Agincourt Carol’.

Please follow the link for the Programme.

This event is now fully booked.

Profits from the event will be divided between two Charities :  proceeds from tickets purchased by Somervillians to the  Somerville Bursary Fund ; proceeds from other tickets to St Michael & All Angels.
