Graduate financial guide

This guide is designed to help you navigate your way around financial aid provided by the State, the College, and the University. We recognise that financial worries are an increasing concern for students. We also recognise that your financial situation is personal and you may be concerned about discussing it with others. The reality is that all students are in a similar situation and advisers from the College, University, and the Student Union are used to the type of problems that students encounter and know of ways to alleviate those problems. We hope therefore that this guide will provide you with the information and contact details you need to manage your finances effectively. This guide covers:

  • The steps you need to take before each academic year to secure funding.
  • What you should do at the beginning of each term and what aid you will immediately receive.
  • Tips and advice on how to make the most of your finances.
  • Financial resources available.
  • People you can speak to.

It is very important that throughout your time at University you manage your finances carefully by being in control of your own income and expenditure. There are many people who are available to provide assistance and guidance. Use the resources that are available.
