Following the great response to our first Year 12 Study Day last year, we will be repeating the event in 2012, this time with twice as many places available.
This year's event will take place on Saturday, 18th February. It offers a taste of university study, and will have as its centrepiece small-group seminars run by Fellows of the College in their own specialisms, which will offer a challenging and entertaining introduction to university-level study of the subject. By increasing places, we are also able to offer seminars in a wider range of subjects. This year they are: archaeology, biology, French, history, philosophy, physics and zoology/ecology.
The seminars are open to Year 12 students taking a related subject, who are thinking about going on to study it at university. The students will also have the opportunity to spend the day with current undergraduates in their subject of interest, and to discuss the courses with the college tutors. The day is entirely free of charge, and includes lunch with the undergraduates in the College Hall, refreshments and a university tour, although we regret we are not able to pay students' travel expenses.
