The Teachers Network

The Teachers Network was initiated in June 2011. Its aim is to foster schools’ interest in Somerville as a place that welcomes students from all backgrounds and provides them with the best possible teaching and support. Any Somervillian Teacher wishing for further information is encouraged to contact the Senior Tutor, Steve Rayner.

We were delighted that 32 Somervillian Teachers were able to join the Principal and Fellows in College on 11 June 2011 for the first Teachers Day. The programme focused on explaining how the Admissions process works for Oxford, and for Somerville in particular, and was illustrated by two mock interviews. There was also a presentation about the transition to university learning, given by an experienced Somervillian Head of 6th Form.

Teachers are an important part of the College's constituency and we hope that this day will be part of a regular series in years to come.
