Special interest and professional networking groups

We have a number of alumni run groups that focus on professional networking or a special interest, as well as groups run for alumni in a particular location. If you would like to start a group or would like information on an existing group please contact the Association Secretary.

Invitations to College events

Somerville and its alumni organise many events each year – in College, throughout the UK, and around the world. These include dinners, talks, garden parties and special access tours. View future events and recent event photos.

Please update us with your contact details as well as your current job details and interests, to ensure you receive invitations to relevant events. Update your details.

The Senior Members Fund

Ticket prices for alumni events are charged at cost, we do not make any profit on our events. If you feel that you cannot afford to attend an event, there is a small fund available to alumni, to cover the cost of a ticket. Please contact the Association Secretary for further details.

Gaudies

The highlight of the event calendar for many Somervillians is the Gaudy. Your year group, together with alumni from adjacent years, will be invited roughly every 8 years to this special weekend. Invitations are sent by post roughly 3 months before the event so please make sure we have you current contact details. You will also be made aware of forth coming Gaudies in publications and online.

Annual Commemoration Service

Each June we hold a service to remember Somervillians who have died in the last year. Family and Somervillian friends are encouraged to attend. Obituaries can also be included in the annual College Report. Please contact the Association Secretary for further details.

Somerville Magazine

The Development Office produces an annual magazine sent out in Trinity Term. We are always keen to hear your views on the magazine. We are also looking for interesting articles and news stories to appear in the next edition. Please contact the Development Office to get involved. Download previous issues of the magazine.  

Email forwarding service

All alumni are offered an Oxford-based email address which will forward email to your current email account. If you change your email address you will only need to notify the email forwarding service. The directory of Oxford emails is searchable but offers an ex-directory option. Read more.

Oxford Alumni Card

All alumni are given an Oxford alumni card from the University Alumni Office when they graduate. This card gives you access to University buildings and Colleges. You will also benefit from discounts from many businesses around Oxford as well as alumni run businesses elsewhere. For further information or to request a replacement card please visit the Oxford University Alumni website.

Visit the College

Alumni are very welcome to visit Somerville, though the College may be closed at various times due to events. Please book ahead by contacting the Association Secretary.

Room hire for private functions and dining

Somerville College is well placed for visitors to the city of Oxford. It has excellent facilities and offers a versatile environment for groups or individuals requiring meeting rooms, lectures, receptions, or dinners throughout the year. Read more

Overnight accommodation in College

Alumni are able to book accommodation subject to availability.  Plesae see the details of the rooms available.  You are also entitle to a discount.  To receive the discounted price you will need to log on to Somerville On-Line and click on Accommodation Discount Code tab to get the latest discount code.  This will then need to be entered into the discount promotional code box.   If you have not registered to use Somerville On-Line you will need to register first. Please allow time for new registrants will have to be verified.

Chapel for weddings

The Somerville chapel is available to alumni for weddings, subject to availability. Please contact the Catering and Conference Office for further information.

 

Post graduate Awards

Somerville is committed to supporting our students, even after they have graduated. If you have already completed a degree at Somerville, or are due to complete your course in 2011-12, you can apply for financial support from us to help you with the next step in your post-Somerville career.
