How to support Somerville

Every penny counts and we welcome gifts of all sizes.                                                                              Make a gift on-line

Our main priority is to raise funds which are unrestricted (and are therefore available for use in areas of the College’s greatest funding needs) or restricted to one of our three main fundraising areas of:

  • Radcliffe Infirmary Quarter student accommodation building
  • Student Support - bursaries
  • Research and Teaching

 Examples of how gifts of different levels might be used include:

£50,000 for a named room for a student with disabilities

£25,000 towards a named en-suite student room

£25,000 to help fund outreach work with schools to attract the best students regardless of their financial background

£5,000 to help cover the cost of a room refurbishment

£3,000 for the installation of a new shower for six students

£1,000 to contribute towards an Oxford Opportunity Bursary for students on full fee remission

£500 to help students on partial fee remission who do not currently receive help

£200 for one two hour tutorial for two students – the backbone of our education system.

£100 to pay for four essential books for the library

£50 to enable a Junior Dean to provide student welfare support for half a day
