Summer reading and preparatory work is generally sent out in August, and is required for most subjects. Students holding an offer to read English will be contacted with a reading list in the early summer. Whenever possible, we aim to send out reading lists and preparatory work by email.
From September 2011, when the new Radcliffe Observatory Quarter buildings open, we will be able to offer accommodation to the majority of undergraduates who want to live in College throughout their course. Some students in their second and third years opt to live out of College.
Somerville cannot offer married/partner accommodation in college. Although first-year students are usually required to live in College, special consideration will be given to married/partnered students. Please the College Admissions Office for further information.
How do I prepare for life at Somerville?
If you have received an offer of a place at Somerville, you will no doubt be thinking about when you will need to arrive at the College, where you will live, and how much your studies will cost.
Please contact academic.office@some.ox.ac.uk for information. The University of Oxford website also contains information about arriving as a new student.
