Dr Gerardo Simari
Position: Postdoctoral Research Assistant, Computer Science
Email: gerardo.simari@cs.ox.ac.uk
Gerardo Simari obtained his Licentiate in Computer Science and Magister in Computer Science degrees from Universidad Nacional del Sur (Bahia Blanca, Argentina), and his PhD from University of Maryland College Park (USA). His research interests lie in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, with particular focus on Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR), and Databases, as well as the intersection of the two. In particular, his work has been in Reasoning under Uncertainty, Logic Programming, Semantic Web, Inconsistency Management in Relational Databases, and Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems. One of his ongoing research interests that involve most of the above is that of probabilistic reasoning about the kinds of actions that can be expected by agents being modeled in a given environment, which is a central problem in the area of Computational Cultural Dynamics.
