St Paul's Nursery

Somerville College is one of the few Oxford colleges to offer child-care facilities.  Originally set up as a work-place nursery for Somerville staff, it is now open to families who are not connected with the College.  Priority is given to Somerville staff and students.  St Paul's Nursery cares for 16 children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years.

St Paul's Nursery is registered with Ofsted.  The last inspection was carried out in January 2008 and was very encouraging.  The Nursery is also registered to receive funding for the education and care of 3 and 4 year olds and employs 6 full-time staff.

The aim of the Nursery is to promote a positive environment for learning through experimenting, investigating and by example.  Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace and we try to build up a child's confidence and self-esteem.   As it is quite a small Nursery, we pride ourselves on our family environment.

Priority will be given to Somerville staff and students.  Whenever possible, we will accept siblings of children already attending the Nursery.

The Nursery is open from 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday, plus the two bank holidays in May.  It closes for Good Friday and Easter Monday and for the College's Christmas closure period.

Prospective parents are always welcome to view the Nursery and its facilities by making an appointment. For further information, please contact Carol Reynolds, Domestic Bursar, by e-mail ().
