Benjamin Thompson (Fellow in History):

Currently trying to finish book on the alien priories and their transformation in late-medieval England (larger ones naturalized by being removed from French jurisdiction, smaller ones dissolved and their property redistributed).  Associated projects include essays on prelates' response to alien priories, and on the foundation of King's College Cambridge. More broadly I'm writing essays for the Polemic group, on the polemic of ecclesiastical reform in late-medieval England, and on the entanglement of the church in 'Bastard Feudalism', the set of both formal and informal practices around the protection and exchange of property and power in late-medieval English society.
